What documents are needed for NVC?

The NVC has a complete listing in the website of all of the civil documents that are required in order to complete the processing of an immigrant visa application. The civil documents include birth certificate, adoption decree, marriage certificate, marriage termination documents, military records, police certificates, court/prison records, etc.

How long does it take NVC to review documents?

NVC states it takes 30-60 days to review case file after documents submitted. You can contact the NVC directly as indicated in your letter(s) from them.

Can I send the copy of documents to NVC?

IMPORTANT: Do not send your original passport or original civil documents such as birth, and marriage certificates. Instead, submit a photocopy of these documents to NVC.
